Following heavy rain falls in Europe during the last several weeks, some German rivers have reached their highest levels in history, which caused record floods and serious damage across the country. Parts of Germany have been evacuated and declared as being in state of emergency or even disaster, including the area close to Styron's Schkopau and Böhlen facilities.
In support of relief efforts in the Schkopau and Böhlen area, Styron will donate 10.000 Euro to two official relief organizations located in the state of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, where our employees live. These two organizations were selected after careful consideration by the site leadership of Styron Deutschland GmbH. The organizations will assist in addressing the flood disaster and will make sure to distribute the donations to those flood victims who need them.
Marco Levi, Senior Vice President & Business President Emulsion Polymers, Styron said, "It's great to see people from around the Styron world so concerned about the well-being of our colleagues. Our thoughts are with all the Schkopau and Böhlen team members during this difficult time. Styron is committed to supporting the communities in which it operates and we hope these funds will be of help to the areas recovery."
"In addition to the donation, the company has decided that employees who are in voluntary support groups, like the voluntary fire brigade, can take paid leave as well as employees whose houses are impacted so that they can address their personal situations," added Ralf Irmert, Managing Director Styron Deutschland GmbH.
