Reduces Waste by 34%, Greenhouse Gases by 7% from previous year
BERWYN, PA., U.S.A. – July 31, 2013 – Styron, the global materials company and manufacturer of plastics, latex and rubber, has published its 2012 Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report with enhanced emissions reporting.
For 2012, the company reported a seven percent reduction in greenhouse gases (scope 1), a four percent reduction in electricity use, 25 percent reduction in volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, and a 34 percent reduction in waste compared to the previous year.
This is the first year the company has reported emissions data. This is the third public report the company has issued annually since Styron’s formation as an independent company in 2010.
The report profiles how the company’s products help its customers improve their own sustainability in areas such as LED lighting, green tires, building insulation, smart meters, life-saving medical devices, and lighter weight cars.
