Showcases Plastics for LED Lighting
BERWYN, Pa – February 18, 2014 -- Styron, the global materials company and manufacturer of plastics, latex and rubber, announced today it will exhibit at the 15th annual Strategies in Light show in Santa Clara, Calif. from February 25 – 27, in Booth #901.

Plastics can be found in virtually all areas of LED applications. The areas where plastic resins are especially well suited include:
- Coverings, lenses, optics, light pipes, diffusers, signage and recessed troffer lighting
- Housings and enclosures, including luminaires
- LED reflectors, the parts made of high reflectivity materials designed to maximize light output by directing the light emitted from an LED light source
Components of LED applications have very specific performance requirements. These range from the need to have unquestionable toughness; maximize light output; balance light source hiding capabilities with transparency, diffusion and whiteness; provide superior ignition resistance; and offer premium aesthetics. Polycarbonate is considered an ideal material because of its one-of-a-kind properties.
