SHANGHAI, China November 7, 2014
Styron,
returned to Shanghai for MEDTEC China 2014, the premier medical trade fair, held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center on 25-26 September.
More than 300 medical industry companies from 13 countries attended the event, setting new records in terms of overall size, number of visitors, and exhibitors for its 10 year anniversary.
At the exhibition, Styron showcased two major medical industry products:
CALIBRE™ MEGARAD™ PC Resins – the polycarbonate of choice for gamma and e-beam sterilization processes. These grades utilize color compensation technology to provide improved color stability after sterilization resulting in parts that have less color shift and quickly return to their near-original appearance.
EMERGE™ PC/PET 9500CR Advanced Resins – An ignition, impact and heat resistant material specially designed for medical equipment housings and other applications that require enhanced chemical resistance. The formulation of this advanced resin is specially designed to endure repeated exposure to a wide variety of aggressive chemicals, including surface disinfectants and cleansers commonly used in the medical industry.
On the first day of the event, Styron’s Cheryl Weckle, development scientist of Plastics, presented at the New Technology Session. Her presentation focused on Styron’s High Performance Polycarbonate Resins for medical devices and illustrated the advantages of our product compared to similar products in the market.
“Styron strives to help our customers solve their most complex material challenges, so we will continue to work closely with them on their product development to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions,” said Jacqueline Pang, product marketing manager, Performance Plastics.
Styron previously announced plans to change the name of all Styron affiliated companies to Trinseo, NYSE: TSE. Some, but not all, of the Styron companies have completed the name change process and are currently known as Trinseo; Styron companies that have not completed this process will continue to do business as Styron until their respective name changes are complete. Styron's operating companies also continue to do business as Styron at this time.
